The Website

(Part 1)

The ATT U-Verse Website:

(3 out 5 stars) I dinged them big time for not having a way to order online. If they change this I might be compelled to change my score a little higher because I do like the design.

I have to say when I first visited the U-verse site I got a warm and fuzzy from it. Not that it did anything special or there was just some outrageous offer that was so appealing my credit card was falling out of my wallet but I liked it’s simplicity but trendy approach. Basically, I didn’t feel overwhelmed when I got to the site and felt like I could easily get around it and I definitely wanted to see what information I could find. This is important because there is nothing worse than not being able to navigate through a website. (review continued below image)

The first thing I needed to find out from the website was, is U-verse was in my area? The “Availability” section was very clear in blue, so I was able to check this very easily. It gives you two options to find out if U-verse is available. One you can check against your current telephone number (TN) or two by your address. Since I was already a current AT&T phone customer, on a copper pair, I simply plugged in my number and got the results. I really liked how easy it was to find out if I could get the service.

The next thing I needed to know was the offer, what did ATT have to offer me. What, am I really investing in? Is it just a buzz or is there something to this service that makes it different from others, like satellite and cable. I went though the demos and tours and it showed me about the service and the features which where nice but my only problem is that nothing really stood out. Nothing just jumped up and said “U-verse is better” and this is why point black. However, the presentation was very clean and since I have a broadband background this affected my opinion overall and obviously lead to the purchasing.

I think the best thing about visiting the site was that I felt at home. I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything and the information was presented very professional, but at the same time subtlety appealing. ATT, uses very good design tactics in my opinion. They have a way of being crisp, sharp, stylish, and to the point.

You don’t get the smoke and mirrors feeling when looking over their suite of products. One bad thing I do have to say about the site and this could have been just a fluke, but to me it seemed laggish at times. It could have been my ISP, because I was checking it out from work, so it’s hard to say if it was really an issue on there end or not.
