U-verse Broadband Speeds Staying Strong

It’s been about six months since I signed up for AT&T U-verse and over all I can say that I’m quite happy with the service. For one I’m getting better speeds for around the same price that I was paying for DSL. Also, it seems that the speed is more stable that what I have experienced with other broadband providers.

I have heard rumors that it won’t last and that once AT&T gets a lot of subscribers that the network will start to have more issues because of congestion. In theory this makes a lot of sense, however I would hate to bash anyone before it becomes true. I decided that I will start doing monthly speed test to make sure I’m constant as time passes.

So here are my first results: (I’m provisioned at 3mbs/1mbs)

Downspeed: 2.8mbs
Upspeed:
.95mbs

It’s hard to complain for speeds just slightly under what I’m paying for and to be honest I have never seen another provider hit the speed right on the nose.

In conclusion, all and all, where still running strong!

I can’t say the same. I had pretty consistent speed with what I was paying for with their Pro and Elite speeds (3M, 6M) but I recently upgraded to their Max 18Mbps and I’m lucky to crack 12Mbps on most speed tests. I’d say I’m really only averaging 8-10Mbps.

I have had U-verse(6 mbps)for about two months. I had BS ADSL for about 6 years before that.

U-verse tests 6, BS tested 1.5-2.5. However, there is NO doubt that pages at all sites I used before take 2 to 4 times LONGER to load.

The test is great, the everyday use sucks.

Sounds like a DNS issue Jim. Do some research and consider statically setting something other than what AT&T assigns you.

I tested my speed and got 1565 on the download and 954 on the uplosd. That is a long way from 2872 on the download! Any suggestions?

    Good Morning,
I had a message on my answering machine yesterday stating you had upgraded my service and it worked excellent yesterday afternoon and last night. This morning it is back to being as slow as ever on my Computer. If you cain’t fix my Internet Service to be consistant I am getting off of Uvere and go back to Direct TV and the Bellsouth Internet Service. You are sure doing a lot of big talk about Uverse and I don’t see anything about the Phone service and the Internet that is so good about it. When I dial a number on my Number it takes a long time for it to ring. You would think a Company like AT&T would be the best without question.
